Combined toilet seats and frames are used to make transfers on and off the toilet easier and safer for the person. They are a metal and height adjustable frame with a moulded toilet seat that fits over the bowl. It can either be free standing or floor fixed.

Consider if there is adequate space around the toilet for all four feet to be firmly placed on the floor, and that the bathroom door can open and close freely with the frame in place. Space is often tight in bathrooms, so consider what walking aids you will be using in the bathroom area. Equal pressure is needed from both arms when lowering and raising from this, so it may need to be floor fixed for additional security. If it is to be a floor fixed frame, this is not advisable onto slip resistance flooring as is likely to rust especially if located close to a level floor shower. Weight restrictions apply and also consider the overall width of the frame as it can restrict your ability to clean yourself after using the toilet.
