Shower Board
I want to be able to use my over bath shower safely
Benefit
Shower boards are used to facilitate access into the bath from a sitting position. They rest across the top of the bath and are secured by adjustable brackets which press against the bath sides. An optional bath handle can be added for additional grip when transferring across them. You will need to be able to raise your legs over the edge of the bath, and then you will usually remain seated to either shower or be assisted to wash.
Things to Consider
It is important to follow manufacturer's instructions and make sure equipment is secure. Suitability of the equipment; ensure that you measure the width of the bath including the ledges on both sides. Check the suitability of the shape of the bath and that there is a ledge on both sides of the bath for the board to securely fit onto. The board should not overhang the side of the bath. Weight restrictions apply. Consider if a shower curtain may be a better option than a fixed screen which may restrict the use of the board when trying to lift your legs over the side of the bath.
