Active’s sitting service is designed to support carers to have a well-earned break from their caring responsibilities and give them time to relax, pursue their own interests, get all the jobs done they haven’t been able to do or spend time with other family members.

Active offers a range of flexible sitting services that can be provided during the day, evening or night for any length of time, as follows:
• Support in the home, giving the carer time to go out if they choose
• Support to access community facilities
• Accompanying carers and individuals on outings or holidays to provide the extra support required to make sure everyone has a good time.

Qualified and consistent support workers are carefully matched to individuals according to their skills, training and personal interests. This enables the carer to have peace of mind and confidence that their friend or relative is being supported safely to have a good time pursuing activities they enjoy.

All staff undergo a rigorous recruitment process including an Enhanced DBS check. Introductions are undertaken sensitively at the pace of the service user to promote the development of strong, trusting relationships so that everyone has a positive experience.
