Energy and pacing

Pacing is a self-management technique designed to balance energy and rest, helping individuals manage the impact of health problems on their quality of life. It is not a treatment but a coping strategy, particularly useful for those with neurological conditions like ME/CFS. Pacing involves maintaining activity levels within one’s “energy envelope” to avoid symptom aggravation and planning activities based on current abilities. Over time, as conditions stabilise, activities can be gradually increased. Effective pacing requires considering the stage of illness, symptom severity, and daily condition fluctuations. This approach helps manage fatigue and maintain energy for unexpected events.

When someone has an energy limiting condition it is important to manage the energy they do have. Every-One have produced a podcast, hosted on Podbean, about Managing your energy.
