Safeguarding
The UK Government established six principles of safeguarding (SCIE website) to enhance protection in health and social care, as outlined in the Care Act 2014. These principles guide actions to safeguard individuals, including those with energy limiting conditions (ELCs), by preventing harm and supporting informed decision-making.
Originally for adults, these principles also apply to children, focusing on preventing abuse or exploitation and raising awareness.
The six safeguarding principles are:
- Empowerment
- Protection
- Prevention
- Proportionality
- Partnerships
- Accountability
There is safeguarding information available on the Lincolnshire County Council website and the Connect to Support website.
