Bedroom 2
Leg Lifter (Manual)
I want to...
- lower or lift my legs in or out of bed
Benefits
Rigid fabric covered pole with loops at both ends, commonly used to lift or lower a leg to/from floor or bed, may be used in other situations. Lifter has one loop which is reinforced and fits over the instep, the other loop being held in the hand.
Things to consider
- Need upper limb strength sufficient to lift leg.
- Need good trunk balance whilst legs being lifted.
- Not able to lift one leg with other.
- Consider stability of lower limb joints.
- Avoid use if the person has back/shoulder/neck injuries.
- Never attempt to lift both legs at once.
- Usually takes two hands.
- The person needs to be able to sit safely on the bed.
