Bedroom 2

Leg Lifter (Powered)

I want to...

  • lower or lift my legs in or out of bed

Benefits

  • Equipment which lifts a person's legs from floor to bed level (horizontal) and back down to the floor.
  • Supports sitting balance as legs are lifted.
  • Supports to slide legs onto bed from raiser.
  • The person needs to be able to stand from sitting without the need to flex their knees beyond a 90-degree angle.
  • Requires the ability to operate controls.
  • Could be used to assist a carer with back problems.

Things to consider

  • If a bedside commode or wheelchair is used, careful consideration should go into positioning to avoid blocking of transfers.
  • Fitting/position of equipment to be checked regularly by carer or person.
  • Consider weight limit of equipment. Wires/tubes should be hidden to avoid tripping.
  • Need power outlet near bed.
  • Compressor can be noisy - consider other house occupants.
  • Consider position of carer if assistance is required for transfers.
