Bedroom 2
Multipurpose Bed Raiser Units
I want to...
- be able to get out of bed more safely
- I need help to stand from the side of the bed
Benefits
- Static unit which raises the height of the bed to assist with independence in rising from bed.
- To enable transfers independently, with carers, or to allow mobile hoist access under the bed.
- To enable level transfer surfaces between bed and chair or commode.
- To raise bed height to equal distance from heel to back of knee (and so to assist standing and sitting).
- May enhance safety of carer assisting transfers.
Things to consider
- Strength of bed frame.
- Should be fitted using a bed jack.
- Use appropriate raiser for castor beds making sure castor fits into the raiser unit.
- Bed will be difficult to move after fitting raisers as castors will be immobilised.
- Do not compromise partner's ability to get out of bed.
- May be linked together or fixed to bed frame.
- System of linked or individual units with inset to accommodate bed castors or legs.
