Development Plus

Lincoln Community Development Worker Project (trading as developmentplus) is a community development organisation which works across the County of Lincolnshire. They work alongside people in their community facilitating their involvement in decisions that affect their lives, supporting them to identify and develop initiatives that they feel will improve their quality of life socially, environmentally, economically and through learning. All of their work is based on the values of community development, working alongside people and not imposing views on them but valuing their skills and abilities, ensuring their participation and providing opportunities for their personal development. Their aims and objectives have been developed over the last 22 years in response to local needs. They aim to inspire the development of community groups and facilities, whilst building self-esteem, confidence and a sense of mutual responsibility.

Developmentplus currently runs four projects including; “A Step in the Right Direction”: this programme is a one to one coaching and mentoring service and offers support to individuals from areas across the City of Lincoln. It aims to support people to identify personal goals and achieve them, by looking at barriers and finding solutions. “Bridging the Gap”, a Reducing Reoffending Project which provides one to one support to both men and women who have been released from prison into Lincoln. “Better Together”, a collaborative project with two local charities offering one-to-one support and taster sessions to individuals with poor mental health and a Neighbourhood Working project supporting resident led groups across the City of Lincoln. They also have funding to deliver a number of free Health & Wellbeing courses.
