South Holland Parish Voluntary Car Service

Our service aims to provide transport to the community in order that they may attend Hospital, Dental, Medical appointments. This service is aimed at clients particularly the elderly, disabled (with reservations) and anyone in need of help to reach their scheduled appointment. We aim to take people to appointments from their own address and to wait at those locations and then return them home. 

Voluntary drivers use their own vehicles, hence the limitations on disabled clients as many of our vehicles are unable to accommodate certain wheelchairs or mobility aids.

Dependent on location some clients are able to attend social events or go shopping. However, this is limited to a few areas and is often down to availability of drivers.

There is a small charge to clients payable to the driver and the total journey originates from the drivers location to the appointment and the return journey. This charge recompenses the driver for fuel and maintenance of vehicle and there is no charge for the drivers time.  All our drivers are DBS checked.

WAITING TIME.... If a client has an appointment or a procedure which means a driver would have to wait in excess of 2 hours then the driver is entitled to drop the patient at the appointment location and return later to pick up. This will necessitate a double journey charge, however, this is also dependent on on the location. For appointments further afield the driver would normally wait for however long is necessary. 

Voluntary Car Scheme

The voluntary car scheme is a low cost car sharing scheme across some parishes in South Holland. The service provides door to door transport for hospital and medical appointments, with coordinators in each of the participating parishes.
