BID Services Lincolnshire

BID Services is a charity which works to remove barriers and deliver services which enable and empower those who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, sight impaired, deafblind or have other disabilities to live full lives.
Within Lincolnshire, BID Services delivers a range of services and activities specifically for children, young people and adults with sensory impairments and their families/carers. These are aimed at addressing the practical and emotional challenges that people with sensory loss can face in their everyday lives and supporting people to maintain independence and access information, activities and opportunities. These include:

Lincolnshire Sensory Services:

• Registration of sight, hearing and dual sensory loss.

• Rehabilitation support to help with daily living tasks e.g. safe cooking.

• Mobility training for children and adults teaching people how to travel independently and safely.

• Equipment provision and demonstration.
• Information and advice about living with a sight or hearing loss and adapting to a newly acquired sensory impairment.
• Benefits advice e.g. Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
• Hearing aid maintenance and replacement batteries.
• Translating letters and bills into British Sign Language (BSL) for members of the Deaf Community.
• Support in the community to access activities, complete daily tasks and take part in social opportunities.

Care Plus:

• Specialist one to one support for children and adults who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, visually impaired or deafblind.
• Support for outings such as visiting family and friends, attending appointments and social activities.
• Support with household tasks such as shopping, laundry, paying bills, dealing with mail.
