Lincolnshire Sensory Services

Lincolnshire Sensory Services (LSS) provides specialist information, guidance and support for adults, children and young people living in Lincolnshire who have a sensory impairment or loss and their families and carers. LSS is delivered by BID Services, a charity which specialises in removing barriers and delivering services which enable and empower those who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, sight/severely sight impaired, deafblind or have other disabilities to live full lives.

The friendly LSS staff team understand the practical and emotional challenges that people with sensory loss or impairments can face in their everyday lives and focus on promoting independence, wellbeing and accessibility.

LSS supports those who have a newly acquired sensory impairment, for example hearing or sight loss, those who may be experiencing deterioration in their hearing or sight and those born with hearing and/or sight loss such as profoundly Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users. This service helps people maintain independence and dignity in every aspect of their lives, and works closely with carers, families and other organisations to increase their understanding about Deafness, visual impairments and dual sensory loss.

Alongside this service, BID Services also runs Chance to Meet for children and young people aged 0 to 18 who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, sight impaired or deafblind and their families, offering a range of social and leisure activities. Further information is available at: https://www.bid.org.uk/services/chance-to-meet-lincolnshire/. BID Services has an online information library with a range of self-help and informative resources for individuals, families/carers and professionals.

Further information is available at: https://www.bid.org.uk/resources/. LSS can be accessed via telephone, text, email, online referral or through one of our drop ins across Lincolnshire.
