Social Care Financial assessments
Financial assessments are undertaken to establish how much you will need to pay towards the cost of the care services you receive. Your care and support costs are your responsibility, but you may qualify for financial assistance from the council towards these costs.
Adult Care Charges Calculator
You can use the Adult Care Charges Calculator to find out if you are likely to have to pay for your care and an estimate of how much that will be. It only takes around 5 minutes to complete the calculator and won’t require you to submit any personal information.
Please note: this is solely based on the information you provide and therefore may not be 100% accurate compared to a full financial assessment.
Financial Assessments
If you have an Adult Care strength based assessment and are eligible for receiving services, you will then be asked to complete a full financial assessment to determine exactly how much financial support you get from the council.
Your key worker will ask you to complete a financial assessment form detailing information about your savings, investments, assets, income, and expenditure.
The Serco Financial Assessment and Income Collection Team (FAICT) will then carry out an assessment of your financial circumstances. This will determine the maximum weekly contribution you can afford.
Your assessable income will be worked out and compared with the cost of providing care. You will then be notified of the weekly amount you will be required to pay and be sent a letter to confirm this amount.
If you choose not to have a financial assessment, you will be responsible for paying the full cost of your care and support.
