NHS services

The NHS provides lots of services which are mostly available free of charge, from GPs and dentists to hospitals and emergency care.

Lincolnshire Community Health Service Talk before you Walk aims to make sure you can get the trusted help and advice you need in the simplest, safest and most convenient way.

There are four different ways to get medical services you require to keep you well:-

1.  Call or go online to the NHS 111 service or use the NHS app.

The NHS 111 service will ask you a series of questions to help identify your symptoms and recommend safe and appropriate action to take. This could include:

  • being advised to attend an Urgent Treatment Centre
  • arranging for a prescription to be available for collection from a pharmacy
  • get urgent specialist support, for dental or mental health problems
  • arranging an online or video consultation with a GP or a telephone consultation with a clinical professional

 2.   Make an appointment with your local GP practice

  • most GP practices allow you to book online. See your own GP Practice website for more details.
  • telephone the GP surgery for details rather than attend your practice in person. Find your GP practice online.

3.   Help us to help you, try to plan ahead and stock up on:

  • day-to-day medicines like paracetamol and ibuprofen
  • take some plasters with you on days out to cover up scratches, cuts and bruises
  • apply sun cream on sunny, hot days
  • drink water to keep your body hydrated especially in hot weather
