Council Tax Support

Council Tax Support can reduce your council tax bill based on factors like your income, savings, household members, and council tax band. Since each council has different rules, you should check with your local council to see if you qualify and find out how much you could save.

You might be eligible if you:

  • Have a low income or low earnings
  • Are responsible for paying council tax
  • Have savings under £16,000 (different rules apply if you're over 60)
  • Receive Universal Credit

Eligibility depends on:

  • Your household income, including savings, pensions, and your partner's income
  • Whether children or other adults live with you
  • Your entitlement to benefits

You can use a benefits calculator for an estimate or contact the benefits team for more information.
